|The Parliament of Western Australia consists of the Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council and the sovereign. |
Royal Assent is given when the Governor of Western Australia, representing the sovereign, assents to a Bill after it has been passed by both Houses of Parliament. This must occur before the Bill becomes an Act.
While it does vary, it is usually takes between 5 and 10 working days for a Bill to receive Royal Assent.
Some constitutional Bills must be approved by the electors at a referendum before they can be presented for assent.
