Definition: Royal Assent - the process and timeframe for a Bill to receive Royal Assent?

The Parliament of Western Australia consists of the Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council and the sovereign.
Royal Assent is given when the Governor of Western Australia, representing the sovereign, assents to a Bill after it has been passed by both Houses of Parliament. This must occur before the Bill becomes an Act.

While it does vary, it is usually takes between 5 and 10 working days for a Bill to receive Royal Assent.

Some constitutional Bills must be approved by the electors at a referendum before they can be presented for assent.
